Bari Miller, Director and Choreographer
Bari was born to a Hollywood family across the street from Walt Disney Studios, and soon knew she wanted to dance. She started ballet at the tender age of eight. She majored in Theater Arts at San Jose State University, which included production as well as performance. Bari is no stranger to the Santa Cruz Follies. She started as a performer in 1998, later became stage manager, choreographer and director. She is also an accomplished dancer trained in ballet and tap. Bari is one of the Follies’ photographers and is responsible for most of the great pictures you see of the Follies. In last year’s show you saw her perched on a pedestal as the ballerina and love interest in the circus scene for “Merry Go Round” and “My Romance.”
This will be Bari’s fifth directorial assignment and her shows are great theatrical experiences..
Kris Wheeler, Musical Director
From a very early age Kris was taught by her family the love of music. She is well known and has been involved in the musical scene in Santa Cruz for many years performing in barbershop, community and church venues.Besides performing in the Follies as an extremely talented singer and dancer, Kris has been it’s music director for the past 10 years, selecting, teaching and conducting in all musical rehearsals.Along with the task of musical director, she has also undertaken the very difficult job of costuming the entire Follies cast. Her talents at finding costumes at a reasonable price are truly out of the ordinary! Kris works in the center’s office, organizing and scheduling the many events that occur there. She is everyone’s “go to” person.
With her organizational and multitasking skills she enables the center and it’s myriad of activities to run efficiently, smoothly and professionally.
