HISTORY OF THE SANTA CRUZ FOLLIES
In the beginning The Santa Cruz Follies was known as SENIORAMA!!
What started at the Civic as the Seniorama Fair with a hobby show, art showing, hand crafts, exhibit tables, baked goods, fish pond and entertainment has become a state of the art Broadway styled musical extravaganza. Our annual theatrical event has continued to attract dynamic and talented performers since 1955. The show presented in 1956 celebrated the first anniversary of Seniorama and was called “The Bachelor’s Dream” staffed by Florence Genken, production and Charles Tipper, musical. Other titles that followed were “The Streets of Paris”, “The Great Romantic Cavalcade”, “Westward Ho” , “Grand Tour” , to name a few.
Since the late 50’s there have been over 50 musical shows created, rehearsed, performed and enjoyed by the public. The Follies is a Santa Cruz Tradition!
