Successful Senior Follies Benefit

SCO TEAMS UP WITH THE DAISY FOR SUCCESSFUL SENIOR FOLLIES BENEFIT

Senior Citizen’s Opportunities, home of the Santa Cruz Follies, (SCO) a nonprofit benefiting seniors in Santa Cruz, held its second annual Tea and Fashion Show on Saturday, March 20 at the Market Street Theater. The sold out event had a unique twist that helped another local nonprofit at the same time. The fashion show featured clothing and accessories from The Daisy resale shop in Capitola. The shop is run by an auxiliary of volunteers with all profits going to support programs of Family Service Agency of the Central Coast. It was a recipe for success according to all involved. Gentlemen escorts decked out in tuxedos, tables laden with fine china, flowers, chocolates, nuts and inimitable finger sandwiches followed by a fashion show of affordable “nearly new” outfits that turned out to be a big hit with guests and models. The only complaint seemed to be that the ticket price of $5.00 was much too low.

Each group added $500 to their funds by the end of the day.

Leaders in both organizations worked together like long time business partners. Daisy volunteers Mary Roitz, Karen Moore, Cathy Zimel, Debbie Brenner and Donna Badawi joining SCO organizers Carmelita Kotta, Pat Dodson, Dee Sargent, Kris Wheeler and Lynn Knudsen.
